Lovewraps by DebY is the creation of Debbie Yurchak, wife of Greg
and mother of eight children.
When
my third child was born, someone gave me a towel made in a similar
way. The first time I wrapped my baby in it, I was hooked: She was
only 3 months old at the time and it wrapped around her twice creating
a cuddly little bundle of warmth and joy, enhancing the natural bonding
of bathtime.
That
year, I created my own variation of the towel and made them for my
15 neices and nephews for Christmas. The kids ranged from new babies
to 6 years old, and everyone loved their towels.
A
short time later, I was challenged to become involved with a local
crisis pregnancy center. By that time we had four children age 5 and
under and going there to help was out of the question. I approached
the director about supplying hooded towels for the clients who gave
birth and she asked me if there was any way I could incorporate ³Jesus
Loves Me² into them -- another ripple in the message of God¹s life-changing
power.
Putting
the "Jesus Loves Me" ribbon inside the hood really brought
the product together, and we began donating hooded towels. As the
ministry of the center grew, we began to doubt our ability to keep
up financially with the demand. Within the week of our wondering,
someone called and asked if she could buy one. Other orders followed,
and Lovewraps was born. One customer asked if I could put her grandchild¹s
name inside, another asked if I could do pullover bibs to match, another
asked for a wash mitt, and gradually a line of products evolved.
Our
family also continued to grow. I found that when each child had his
or her own towel, laundry and clean-up were much easier. I also found
that they used their hooded towels until they were around 10 and then
they flipped the hoods back and just wrapped the towels around their
bodies -- they were THEIR towels.
Today
my eight children range from 23 to 9. The older ones help make products
and process orders and the younger ones make great models. The business
supports our donations to the CPC and as Lovewraps continues to grow
we hope to donate to others. I am truly blessed to have my own quiverful
of children and to be able to encourage young mothers in the joy and
importance of their God-given role. |
